What do we already know about Ernest Shackleton? We looked at a picture of Ernest Shackleton and talked about what we already know about him and what we would like to find out. "Ernest Shackleton went to Antarctica" "He had a boat" "He crashed into an iceberg" "When was he alive?" "Where did he live?" "Why did he travel to Antarctica?" "What animals did he see?" Our mantle of the expert story begins with a picture...... "I'm going to show a few of you a picture, you will have 5 seconds to look at what you can see in the picture. When you have seen the drawing, can you describe to the rest of the class what you saw?" We met Ernest Shackleton, he told us all about his first two failed attempts at travelling to the Antarctica. We wrote down all of the important facts as we listened to him. After both of his failed attempts, Ernest was determined to travel to the South Pole once more. He had an idea..... I don't know about you, but it's making me think that this is a very dangerous expedition... If we are going to go on this expedition, we will need to answer the advert. We got to work on writing a letter to Ernest Shackleton, to find out more information. PSHE - Zones of regulationWe watched a short clip of the Disney film Inside Out. We talked about the different feelings and that everybody feels, angry, sad, happy or worried. After, we wrote down the times when we felt each different emotion and what we could do to regulate our big emotions.
