If we were to plan the canal clean up operation, what would we need to do? What jobs would need to be done?
After watching a short video clip of the restoration work that was done on the Montgomery canal near Oswestry, we decided on the work that needed to be carried out.
We decided on which role we wanted to do and then set to work on the clear up operation!
During the clean up operation there was a huge leak and no water in most parts of the canal.
The team received a telephone call with the news that there has been a leak and we needed to action something immediately.
We watched a video clip of the sink hole which had caused the leak.
We discovered the location of the leak in the over-flow section and identified where the sink hole had appeared. Workers had already stared work on the dam when we arrived.
Once the dam had been put in place, we got to work straight away on fixing the sink hole.
PSHE - Secrets and surprises
The children thought about when they have had a surprise and a time when they have known about a surprise for someone else. We discussed that sometimes people confuse secrets and surprises.
A secret is often something bad that someone does not want other people to find out about. It might be something they have done wrong and they know other people will be hurt or cross when they find out, or it might be something unkind.
We looked at pictures of different scenarios and discusses whether they thought it was a secret or a surprise.
Science - States of Matter
We have been investigating the properties of solids, liquids and gases. In our science area, we need to decide which objects are solids, liquids and which are gases.
We explored what happens to particles in a solid, liquid and gases.
