We hope that you have all had a wonderful summer and a well deserved rest. We are really looking forward to the new school year ahead.
History
In Daffodils class this half term, we will be finding out about Charles Darwin and his work studying nature and his ideas on evolution. We will be learning about his important voyage to the Galapagos Island. We are hoping to go on a visit to Shrewsbury to find out more about him.  .
Through our mantle, we will become museum curators for a new museum opening in Charles Darwin’s childhood home in Shrewsbury.

Art
This half term we will be looking at various animal sculptures by artist Niki de Saint Phalle. We will be exploring various sculpting techniques to produce our own animal sculpture inspired by the artist.
Science.
This half term we will be learning about light. We will be exploring the questions - Where does light come from? What are the differences between light and dark? How is a shadow formed?  How can light be changed?
PE
PE will continue to be on alternate Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please make sure PE kits are brought into school on a Monday and then taken home on a Friday. PE kits should include plain coloured shorts and jogging bottoms, white or navy t-shirt, trainers and a plain sweatshirt. Please make sure these are clearly named as things can get mixed up whilst getting changed!
 Outdoor learning
We will be going to the forest school area every other Tuesday afternoon. We will be going out in all weather, so please make sure kits include plenty of layers (Water proof coats and trousers, jogging bottoms, jumper, gloves and hat. Please no jeans, as these can be uncomfortable if they get wet) Again, make sure kits are clearly labelled.
 Reading.
We will change books once a week and children can take home a book to enjoy. Please make sure book bags are in school every day. It is lovely to read your comments in reading diaries, please make sure you fill in reading diaries every time you read, as we have a new reading challenge in class – the more you read the more change of winning a class treat!
TT Rocks
This week, everyone in Daffodils class will receive their TT Rocks login to access at home. This is a really fun way to learn multiplication tables. Please try to have a go as much as you can, the more times you play the more rewards you get and the better you become at your multiplication tables! You might even be able to challenge Mrs Humphreys!
