This term we have been looking at what qualities would such a Saviour would need? We have become investigative journalists to find the answer to the question: Was Jesus the hoped-for Messiah? Give them the following Bible texts (from books of the prophets in what Christians call the Old Testament) that point out the Jewish expectation: Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6–7; Isaiah 11:1–5; Micah 5:2. everyone thinks Jesus is a Saviour sent from God.
With PowerPoint, you can create presentations and share your work with others, wherever they are. Type the text you want here to get started. How do the Christian use the story of the Nativity to guide their beliefs? We looked at advent wreaths and their symbolism to Christians representing values of joy, hope, love and peace and how they may motivate Christians behaviour, but the most important candle is lit to celebrate Jesus's birthday
L.O What do I have to be thankful for at Christmas time?
This session, we looked at the significance of the advent wreath and how it is used in churches as a decoration, but also as part of the service to remind Christians of different values: hope, love, joy, peace and the last one to celebrate Jesus's birthday each week. We also looked at the people of the Bible who are remembered on each week. We thought about how Christians try and emulate each value and what we can learn from them. Making sense of belief:
Learning Objective: Recognise what a ‘Gospel’ is and give an example of the kinds of stories it contains. Give examples of what these texts mean to some Christians today Understand the implications of what the Bible means today. Today, we explored the story of the Nativity and who were the characters involved. We delved into the role of Shepherds and how they were representatives of normal people chosen to be witnesses of the events that unfolded. We tested our knowledge of appropriate biblical language when solving codes! Today, we Listened attentively, move to and talk about music, expressing feelings and responses and started to identify whether sounds were high or low in pitch. This relates to the ELG: Being imaginative and expressive: We performed songs, rhymes, poems and stories with others, and – when appropriate – tried to move in time with music using a parachute with appropriate actions.
Making sense of belief- Recognising stories that come from the Gospel and giving an account of Jesus's birth.
Today, we retold the story of the Nativity from the perspective of the shepherds and how the Angels brought them good news. This term our focus is to... We discussed what it is like to live in a country that is war torn and in need of a Saviour using Gaza as a sadly relevant comparison. I explained the plight of the Israelites and that people over 4000 years ago were looking for a Messiah to save them from a hopeless situation. Responses included a King would need to be able to fulfil peoples' basic human rights and be a restorer of peace and justice. We explored Isaiah's prophecy within this context, and we recorder his prophecy in either Hebrew or on laptops, and how Christians use these words to celebrate the arrival of Christ.
