Attack of the Vikings!

Our class novel has been Attack of the Vikings by Tony Bradman.
It has been gripping, with plenty of opportunity to discuss our school values of fairness, compassion and courage.
Towards the end of the story, we reflected where and when some of the key characters had shown these qualities.

PSHE- What are my rights and what are my responsibilities?
We discussed our basic needs for food and shelter, our need for family and friendship and the extras, which bring us joy and motivation.

PSHE in Reading Mastery

We read and enjoyed 'Boot' by Shane Hegarty, our class text during the Spring term 2021. The main character, Boot, encountered many set backs in a quest to find Beth, his owner. His dangerous adventures allowed him to find
*where home is
*what friends look like
*why humans are so leaky and weird.

Our comic strips show different characters from the story facing risky situations. They have to decide whether to take 'the risk', knowing that it could put them in a hazardous place. Their values of friendship and loyalty develop alongside their emotions. Their risk taking pays off, when Boot is reunited with Beth.
By the end of the story Boot is not a 'Robot O Fun', to be owned by Beth anymore, but he has found out who he belongs with - his robot friends, Red, Noke and Poochy.
