PSHE Feeling Safe in school

3/20/2022

Roses PSHE 16.3.22.
How can we feel safer in school ?
We talked about ways people can feel safer in school.
Here are the Roses’ ideas:-

What the adults can do:-
  • Re-introduce the buddy stop on the playground again, repair it, brighten it up and have an assembly to explain how it works
  • Have more adults outside at break and lunch times and more adults in the dinner hall
  • Appoint prefects who can be on duty and look out for problems, help other children and take children to adults when problems arise.  These prefects could wear a high-vis jacket so that everyone can spot them on the playground or in the dinner hall
  • We need more colourful games and markings on the playground or more equipment to play with outside
  • Have more assemblies to promote kindness, being considerate and caring for others
  • Have a Happiness Club where children can go if they are feeling unhappy – children could draw, colour, chat, tell jokes, do mindfulness activities
  • Adults could fill the planters with bright, colourful flowers and the children could be responsible for watering them and weeding them.  The flowers would be bright and cheer everyone up and the children would enjoy doing the gardening

What the children can do:-
  • Look out for children who are alone or sad and go over to talk to them, include them in your games or take them to an adult
  • Children need to try not to leave anyone out
  • If you see someone who is sad, talk to them, listen to what they say, give them a hug, try to make them laugh

We talked about how we find information - in non fiction books and how it is similar / different from researching information on line.
The aims of the lesson were:
  • To understand that not all information on search engines is valuable
  • To explain how a search engine works
  • To understand whether information will be useful or not

We began our MoE drama. An eco-tourism company, inspired by Cliff Richard's 'Summer Holiday' film,  have commission our team to create a bespoke bus tour through Europe to Rome in the Mediterranean. The tour company want to provide an exciting but eco-friendly holiday experience for eco-tourists who wish to from getting a better understanding of the area and its history - landscape, culture etc.

We began by creating the bespoke hotel bus in our drama. We highlighted all the fantastic features on our bus and wrote a persuasive brochure for the Red Bus Holidays.

Action for Children: Summer Holiday Activities 2022
Picture

Action for Children – Shropshire Community Short Breaks provide short break holiday support to children and young people aged 4-18 years who are registered with All In.
Their sessions during the summer school holidays will consist of sporting activities, sensory play, arts & crafts, local walks and play parks and local outings i.e., cinema, Attingham Park, Ironbridge Museums and will use worker’s cars /mini bus.
To access the Action for Children (AFC) Summer 2022 holiday support please complete this online form.   This link closes on Friday 24th June 2022 at 12.00 midday.
Sessions will be planned for 6hrs but please be aware, that if they receive a high demand for places like they did for previous holiday clubs, and have continued limited staffing availability, they may have to reduce the sessions to 3hrs to try to ensure that all families that apply have fair and equal access to the support.
Please be assured that they will do their utmost to provide a 6hr session if possible as they do understand how important this support is to you and your family.
Sessions will be dependent on staff availability and weather and any other unforeseen circumstances.
A charge of £10 for a half-day session 9.30 to 12.30 or 12.30 to 3.30 or a full day 9.30 to 3.30 is £20 for each session per child is payable in advance to the session commencing.
Card payments only can be accepted by calling our office on 01743 644713, no cash or cheques can be taken.
Only one session per child per week can be offered.

The guidance below is subject to change in line with AFC and government guidelines. The health and welfare of the children and young people and AFC staff are our highest priority and there will continue be procedures in place for us to limit the risks as much as possible which are as follows:
Parents/carers will be requested to notify Shropshire Community Short Breaks as soon as possible if their child/ren, test positive for Covid 19 and must not attend any sessions. All AFC staff/agency workers will  wear a facial mask to support C&YP inside buildings.  If there is any risk of spreading the virus via oral secretions or first aid is needed to be applied, then staff will have to wear a full facial plastic visor in addition to the facial mask, gloves and apron. Personal care will be undertaken but staff will be required to wear full PPE. Any young person who requires hoisting for personal care will be taken to a changing place to support where available. (If your child / young person requires specialist nursing care please contact us directly). Children and young people will be allocated a worker(s) who will remain with them during the whole session. Social distancing measures will be put into place where possible. Physical intervention is always a last resort but if your child/ren is known to require physical intervention then a full risk assessment will need to be completed on how we can support your child. Sessions will take place in venues and out in the community
