As a whole class we came up with who we respect in our lives. Parents/Grand parents/Teachers/Teaching assistants/Friends/Police/Nurses were just a few suggestions. We discussed about building a mutual respect between two people to having respect for ourselves. We agreed that respecting ourselves is really important for our mental health and would also help us to respect each other.
We also spoke about how we show respect to others; face to face - either friends/peers or adults; and online. They suggested that online, they can share positive comments and feedback and not sharing information about each other. They can show respect to their friends by listening to them and understanding how they are feeling; acknowledge their opinion even if it is different to theirs. They said that adults show respect by listening to them and understanding their opinions and taking time to talk with them to help with things that are affecting them.
