Some Shamrocks children have noticed a few incidents of unsafe behaviour outside of school in the mornings and after school at drop off and pick up times. Concerned for Morda pupils' safety we decided to investigate further by carrying out a Road Safety Survey and will be using the information we have gathered to write up a report of all of the (many) positive things we observed and also some tips for making drop offs and pick ups even safer!
As a class, we designed some questions for a survey and then a small team of Year 6 volunteers donned their high-vis jackets and grabbed their clipboards to carry out the survey this afternoon, after school, at pick up time. Luckily the weather stayed dry and we really enjoyed watching how many people were crossing using the zebra crossing, children walking across the road (not running), younger children staying close to their carers when crossing the road and cars parked safely around the school site. Many thanks to Mr Hughes for all of your support in organising and leading this with the Year 6s. Keep your eyes peeled for our final report and recommendations!
