Welcome to the Daffodils Class 2026-2027

Welcome to Daffodils class. Children join our class in Year 2. Together, we form a dedicated team, and we are here to support every child on their journey. We nurture an environment built on mutual respect and kindness. We believe that every child has the potential to flourish, and we are committed to helping them become the best they can be.

Learning in our class
Learning in Daffodils is creative, practical and purposeful. We believe that learning should be memorable and provide children with lots of opportunities to explore ideas through hands-on experiences, movement, music, discussion and play.
We make the most of our outdoor spaces wherever possible, particularly in Maths and Science, where children can investigate, explore and apply their learning in practical ways. We also use singing and movement to help children remember key learning, such as our much-loved Jack Hartmann times tables songs!
In English, we use high-quality texts, pictures, visuals and drama to help children develop their vocabulary, ideas and confidence as writers. Children write for a range of purposes and audiences, with opportunities to develop their ideas through our Mantle of the Expert approach. Through expert drama and taking on different roles, children become immersed in their learning, helping them to build vocabulary, develop imagination and become excited about writing.
Our classroom also provides opportunities for children to learn through enhanced provision. Our tuff trays are regularly adapted to reflect and deepen the learning taking place in class, giving children opportunities to revisit, practise and extend their understanding in a different way. Where appropriate, we also work alongside Buttercups in the KS1 outdoor area, encouraging children to learn, explore and play together.
Wider experiences and opportunities
We believe that children's learning extends beyond the classroom. Throughout their time in Daffodils, children will have opportunities to take part in trips, visits, library sessions, theatre experiences, church services, special events and activities within the wider community.
