Music

At Morda we aim to make our Music Curriculum give children an enduring love of music. The children will develop technical skills being able to control sound and music through notation; understand how music is constructed, and be able to music respond through physical and emotional expression.

Children will be confident to sing, listen, compose and perform. These skills will foster connections, improve memory and co-ordination. Children will be confident to explore rhythm, pitch, duration, tempo, dynamics, harmony, texture, structure, pulse and rhythm of music. Children will listen in detail and increase their aural memory. They will experience different traditions from great composers and musicians, developing an understanding of the history of music.

Pupils have opportunities to hear and see professional musicians performing  at live and recorded performances.

Pupils have many opportunities to sing and perform to peers, family and the wider community in groups and as individuals.

At Morda, we love singing together and this is part of our everyday experience.

We celebrate and encourage musical talent and ensure pupils have opportunities to learn an instrument in school. We currently teach ukulele and run an after-school drumming and ukulele club, as well as offering piano and guitar lessons. We have a school choir run by a professional musician.
