Meet “Coral” – our latest project to help save the environment!
The Ironworks is loaning out this wonderful, colourful clown fish to Morda Primary school to help reduce waste entering our environment, and eventually our oceans. With fish and ocean mammals living in increasingly deteriorating habitats, it is our duty to step in and prioritise the reduction of plastics entering our natural world. Our collected packets will be donated to organisations who can put them to good use (for instance, turning them into survival blankets for the homeless). Follow the link to find out more https://www.britishironworkcentre.co.uk/projects_item/coral-the-crisp-packet-fish/ We welcomed Angela from Veolia, into our assembly today, to discuss recycling at home. The eco committee met with her after the assembly to discuss what we can do in school to recycle more. We now have a brand new compost bin and will receive various bins to make sure we recycle more in school.
New bug hotels! As part of our action plan for biodiversity, we have put up some new insect and bee hotels. We have also put up new bird houses and bird feeders ready for the Winter. The Queen's green canopyAs part of the Queen's jubilee celebrations, we took part in planting a tree for the Queen's green canopy. You can find our trees on the map https://queensgreencanopy.org/map-education-hub/qgc-map/#/ Our action plan - January 2023The Queens green canopyAs part of the jubilee celebrations we bought two fruit trees. We found out that trees need to be planted between October and November. So, today we planted the trees in Mary's garden and registered with the Queen's green canopy https://queensgreencanopy.org/
Well done Morda school Eco warriors!
We always make sure that our school is litter free by going on regular litter picks. Today we collected a full bag! As part of KS2 geography topic, Rockies class have been creating posters to make people aware of littering and environmental damage in Llandudno. Here is just one of the posters we have made.
Well done Morda Eco Warriors! We have achieved our silver award. We will continue to work hard and gain our green flag award. We always need new ideas, so please speak to our warriors. If you see anything in our wider Morda community that we can help with, come and see us!
