Vision for PE LearningINTENT
At Morda, we aim to instil a lifelong enjoyment and engagement in sport and physical activity. Our Physical Education curriculum is underpinned by the school values of Courage, Compassion and Fairness. Children will develop the courage to take on new sporting challenges and perform outside their comfort zone. They will develop personal excellence through honesty, teamwork and respect. |

IMPLEMENTATION
At Morda pupils build self-belief, passion and determination to succeed in a range of sports including: invasion games, net/wall games, striking/fielding games, target games, swimming, dance and gymnastics.
Through carefully structured sequences of lessons, in our spiral curriculum, pupils are taught the knowledge and skills to successfully take part in these sports. They become more proficient through regular practise and from year 2, they are encouraged to take part in intra and inter-school sporting competitions.
Children are taught the importance of fairness through fair-play. Through our inclusive Physical education programme, they will learn the importance of equality and taking action to overcome prejudice and discrimination.
Our pupils are taught how to show courage and compassion in sports and what makes a good sportsperson. They are taught to understand that in sport not everyone can be the winner and are that it takes perseverance to succeed. Pupils are always encouraged to acknowledge others’ successes.
Our KS2 Sports Leaders Programme develops leadership skills, and an appreciation of the principles of safe practice. Children learn to plan a range of movement sequences, organise equipment and apparatus and design and apply rules.
Our broad enrichment programme of afterschool clubs promotes an enjoyment of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.
Our wider curriculum also includes: an annual residential outdoor and adventurous activity week ( Arthog) for Yr 5 pupils; an annual ‘Be Active Week’ including Bike Ability’ Training and other more unusual sports and fitness activities( e.g. Yoga, first aid, archery, orienteering etc.)
Children are signposted to end encouraged to take part in external sporting and physical education clubs.
