Vision for Personal Social and Health EducationINTENT
The knowledge gained from Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) at Morda is crucial to children’s health, wellbeing and could potentially save their lives. We want to children to know how to live a healthy lifestyle; to be able to keep themselves physically safe and to protect themselves from emotional harm. We aspire to ensure PSHE is at the core of everything we do. |
IMPLEMENTATION
PSHE at Morda is taught every week using in termly themed sequences of lessons from the KAPOW scheme. Teachers plan weekly PSHE lessons and share the learning on their class pages.
PSHE is also woven into the curriculum so that children will encounter PSHE learning in English, Science and across the wider curriculum. Where teacher can make a link, either planned or ad hoc, they will. In this way messages are constantly reinforced. Assemblies too address many elements of the PSHE curriculum such as bullying British Values. Our Living Well Weeks ( EAT WELL, SLEEP WELL AND BE ACTIVE WEEK ) focus intensely on aspects of PSHE like - adopting healthy eating habits, having healthy sleep patterns and relaxation, emotional well being and keeping our bodies fit and active.
Our core school values of Compassion Courage and Fairness feature strongly in PSHE learning. For example: to tell an adult about bullying takes courage, compassion and a strong sense of fairness. Our school vision talks about children standing up for what is right and PSHE is where most of this learning takes place.
