In reading mastery sessions, we have been enjoying texts related to our science topics. We know that we can learn more about our topics by reading information books. Listen to these interesting snippets about plants!
We were on a mission to see if we could find examples of each stage of the Ladybird lifecycle in the Forest School area. Unfortunately we didn't find any eggs - we think we are a bit late for that, but we did find larvae, pupae and adult ladybirds. We started to make our own Ladybird keyrings.
Oswestry - A tourist attraction! Our mantle this half term, began in an office at Oswestry town council. Oswestry town council were investing in a new promotion of the town, to improve tourism. The council needed new information booklets and maps to show the significant points of interest. We met a council worker, they were sat at their desk thinking…… tapping their pen on the desk…. “How can I get people here……. Since the pandemic, no one wants a staycation anymore, they want to go abroad again. What can I do to make people want to come here? The shops and local businesses will thrive with this new initiative, this could be amazing for the town, but what can I do?” The children discussed who this person could be? "They look like they are thinking about something important!" "They look like they are trying to figure something out" "I wonder if they are solving a problem?" We wrote a list of things that we could do to help, as part of a team. A poster Maps A leaflet to tell visitors what to see A television advert A launch party Here are some of our fantastic information leaflets that we produced: We produced some television adverts to help encourage visitors to Oswestry. We have a problem.....Due to the success of the promotion of the town, tourists are now visiting Oswestry. However, local residents in the village of Morda, have noticed an increase in traffic. We decided we needed to collect some data and carry out a traffic survey. Independent learningWe used different maps to find out more about the location of Oswestry.
