We looked at objects and how they move. We learnt that a lever is something that turns on a pivot. We then designed our own moving Easter eggs with a pivot.

What a wonderful time we have had at Llanymynech heritage area and canal! To enhance our learning about canals, we spent time by the canal spotting wildlife and finding out the importance of the canal system and comparing it to the canal system in Liverpool. We even got to see some frog and toad spawn! Some of us were lucky enough to have a look inside a canal boat. In the heritage area, we went on a wildlife walk to see if we could see any small mammals. We discovered a vole and shew, we could tell which was which by the shape of their noses! We rolled down hills and paddled in the stream. When we were inside the kiln, we could hear our echoes! Time for our picnic..... Can you find the hidden Easter eggs? Some environmental art using clay and whatever we could find around us! What a fantastic day!
In computing we have begun to look at the term ‘data’. We have started to understand what data means and how this can be collected in the form of a tally chart. We then presented data in the form of pictograms. PSHE - keeping safeIn PSHE this half term, we have been considering who keeps us safe in our community, learning steps to crossing the road safely; learning how to call 999 and knowing the difference between secrets and surprises. We watched a video about how to make an emergency phone call if we ever needed to https://video.link/w/9NxWc.
The end of our drama, sees us completing the canal restoration and wildlife beginning to come back. After discovering a nest full of eggs, we went back to see if any had hatched. We were delighted to find that cormorants were now living on the canal! We all agreed that we must keep the canal clean and tidy for the wildlife, so decided to make posters to put up around the canal for people to make sure they look after the area. Class worshipWe were joined today by Mrs Webber, who brought along Oscar the ostrich to talk about our school values.
We've had such a wonderful morning celebrating world book day. We began our day with a whole class assembly with Mrs Jones, who had lost her dog Pogo...!
We then spent time in the library sharing books with our friends and took part in an online author event with Sarah Bowie and her new novel 'Nina Peanut is Amazing!' As part of the session, we took part in a draw along, where the author showed us step by step how to draw the characters from the book. To finish our morning, Mary Poppins read us her book! After writing letters to the city council, we received a reply saying that we could go ahead and begin cleaning up the canal. It was a huge job, we cleared the water of rubbish and checked for wildlife, luckily, some animals were saved. The canal had to be drained because it was so polluted. Disaster struck! After constructing a dam, a leak appeared further down the canal which caused a sink hole! We had to work quickly to prevent the water from leaking into the river. Happy St David's Day from Daffodils class! |
