Message from the Executive Headteacher
We’ve had another great week in our schools. We started the week by reminding ourselves of our core Christian Values and the children were challenged to use a value of focus to direct them in their efforts this week. Children who made a special effort and went ‘Above and Beyond’ in their learning were rewarded throughout the week and in our Friday Celebration Worships. Our ‘Be Smart’ focus has gathered pace with children taking pride in their appearance and presentation and making a special effort to move around the school sites with care and consideration. After a very successful week raising the profile of looking smart at Morda, it’s Whittington’s turn next week! Our Local Governing committees, one for Whittington and one for Morda, have met in the last two weeks to discuss Special Educational Needs provision. We are so proud of our inclusive schools and the great work that takes place to support children with additional needs. We’ve navigated some windy weather this week and are hoping it settles for weekend. Many thanks for your continued support. Mr Carl Rogers Executive Headteacher The week at Morda It has been another packed week! As part of our focus on the value of ‘Fairness’, we have been thinking about ‘Treating others as you would like to be treated yourself’. We thought about what this might mean in practise and how we could by following this golden rule in our actions make other people’s lives happier. We also learned the story bible story of the ‘Talents’ and about the festival of Candlemass in our worship. We thought about how we can use out talents for the benefit of others and how we can let our inner light shine. The Morda Local Governing Body Committee met on Wednesday to discuss how we support children with specific needs in school. Mrs Kavanagh our SENDCO presented a report to governors which showed the great work all staff are doing to ensure all our children get the help they need to achieve their best. There has been some great cross curricular writing going on this week, with the Shamrocks writing diaries in role as King Henry IV in hiding in Shrewsbury on the eve of the Battle of Bosworth; the Roses exploring letters written by Roman Wall soldiers from a rainy Hadrian’s wall around 2000 years ago, and the Daffodils writing in role as the ’Fab Four’ at the height of the Beatles fame. On Friday Year 5 and 6 are taking part in a careers and computing session led by RAF STEM Ambassador Andy Cooksley. They will be finding out about the most up-to-date military computer technology. Wishing you a lovely weekend Mrs Helen Chapman Head of School

The first full week of term has been an especially productive one. Learning has been focused as children get into exciting new curriculum themes for this term. All parents should be able to access newsletters and/or Knowledge Organisers giving details of what children will be learning during the spring term. This term, we have begun to align our approaches to Collective Worship. In each school, a values-focused worship will begin the week on a Monday. In this worship children will be issued with a challenge to focus their thoughts on our school values. At the end of the week, on a Friday, schools will end the day on a high with our Celebration Worship, at which, children who have gone ‘Above and Beyond’ in their learning and have given particular consideration to our values and the challenges of the week, will be recognised with special rewards. This is all in keeping with our relational approach to behaviour management. We want to reward fantastic behaviour when we see it and to ensure that children who work hard, behave well and do their best in school are given the positive recognition that they deserve. Pozzy Notes, certificates, awards from staff, #HotChocFriday and more are all part of this way of working. In each school this term, we are making a special effort to ‘Be Smart’ in our appearance and actions. ’Be Smart’ Week at Morda has seen children looking great in uniform and children at Whittington have been giving thought to how they move around the building and school site safely and with consideration for others. We are never going to be the kinds of school who insist on silent corridors or a particular colour of hair-bobble, but we do have very high standards for our children in the things that matter! Have a great weekend. Mr Carl Rogers Executive Headteacher Morda This week has been ‘Be Smart Week’ and after the dressing up and festive jumpers of the holiday period, it has been fantastic to see our children looking super smart in their Morda uniforms. Children have been collecting raffle tickets every time they have come to school in the correct uniform and tomorrow we will announce the winning children and the winning class. There will be prizes for both! Of course we want this smartness to continue – so there will be ‘spot prizes’ and Pozzy notes over the coming term for children who are looking smart and ready for their learning. All this term, we will be focusing on being ready for our learning by moving smartly around school. We will be noticing children who more around school in a smart sensible way and show they are ready for their learning. Our theme for collective worship this week is one of our values: ‘Fairness’. Children have been challenged to think about fairness not necessarily being everyone getting the same, but everyone getting what they need to succeed. We have been looking at stories Jesus told that illustrate fairness. All the classes have been launching into their new topics: Journey to the Moon in the Bluebells; The Swinging Sixties in the Daffodils; The Roman Invasion of Britain in the Roses and Tudor Shrewsbury in the Shamrocks. Check out the website for more information. You can download your child’s class Knowledge Organisers from the website, these contain all the main learning of the term and can be used as revision aids. The Daffodils had a fun and informative Fire Safety session with a visitor from the Fire Service. They learned how to stay safe and what to do in the unlikely event that a fire did happen. Our computing teaching is going well at school: Year 6 are designing websites; Roses are learning to edit photos; Daffodils are learning to create branching data bases and Bluebells are grouping data. The children are becoming computing wizzes! Wishing you a lovely weekend. Mrs Helen Chapman Head of School Welcome Back!
Message from the Executive Headteacher Welcome back to a new year at Pathway Primary Federation! We hope you had a joyful and restful Christmas break filled with laughter, love, and memorable moments. It is with great enthusiasm that we have welcomed back all our children and families in this first, and very short, week of term. As we open the doors to 2024, the excitement in the air is palpable. I would like to once again take this opportunity to express our gratitude to children, parents and teachers for the outstanding efforts of the autumn term. The dedication and quality have set the tone for an exceptional school year, and we all continue to be impressed by the commitment to learning and growth that has been demonstrated. As we look ahead, we anticipate a continuation and elevation of this academic journey. The enthusiasm and energy brought back from the holidays are sure to contribute to a vibrant and positive atmosphere within our school community. Our dedicated teachers and staff are eager to continue providing an enriching and supportive learning environment for every child. This was in evidence during our shared PD Day on Wednesday, where teachers enjoyed an opportunity to explore the use of dramatic inquiry in the classroom. This is well-embedded at Morda and Whittington are enjoying getting to know the approach better. We have exciting plans and activities lined up for the rest of the term, including special events, curriculum projects and opportunities for personal and academic development. We encourage both children and parents to make the most of these experiences. Let's work together to make the remainder of the school year even more remarkable and filled with achievements. Thank you for your continued support, and here's to a successful term ahead! Welcome back, and let the adventure continue! Mr Carl Rogers Executive Headteacher |
