At the end of last half term we joined the rest of the school in celebrating the Queen's platinum jubilee. We went up onto the field to plant two fruit trees as part of the Queen's green canopy. After playing some games, we enjoyed an afternoon tea in the sunshine - we even had a ride in the Queen's carriage! Creating the Whale protection teamOn the floor was a roll of paper with some pens, held down by large shells objects found in the sea. “What would happen if this was a submarine?” “What would the submarine look like?” Some of the children drew the submarine. “Which is the front and which is the back? How do we know?” "We are going to need propellers" "We will need a periscope" "We will need to have a hatch to get in" "We will need windows to look out into the sea" We became a team of experts working to protect whales and will be going out in submarine to monitor the whales. As part of the team, we drew what the submarine would look like inside and created our headquarters. As part of our role in the team, we were responsible for researching the types of whales we will be protecting and why they need to be protected.
