We enter the story before the canal has had restoration work done to it. The canal is overgrown with rubbish and shopping trollies in it. People are throwing rubbish into the canal and there is algae, and bridges and locks are falling down. How does it make us feel? “I feel angry, why are people throwing rubbish in the canal?” “I feel anxious that animals might be in danger from all of the rubbish” “I am disappointed that people are doing this” “It makes me feel sad” “I am worried about the animals” “It makes me want to do something about it” ……… We went back as a group to discuss some of the skills we would need to clean up the canal and to restore the canal and make it a better place to be. “We need to be able to swim and Scuba dive” “We need to be able to dive to see what damage is under the water” “We need litter pickers to collect the equipment” “Knowledge of what equipment to use and be able to use it” “What to do with the rubbish and how to recycle it safely” “Know how to drain the water away to make sure it is clean” Pancake day in Daffodils!Would you like chocolate sauce or lemon and sugar with your pancake?
