We had the pleasure of a blue sky and sunshine for our birdwatching survey. We recognise quite a few of the common garden birds now - robins, blue tits, chaffinches, sparrows and also the bigger magpies, crows, jackdaws and pigeons. Three soaring buzzards also made it onto our counting sheet - perfect timing! We had time to look at a tiny, solitary wasp nest that Mrs K had found in her garage, and also a larger group wasp nest that her parents had found in their kitchen roof space. Both nests were delicate, but amazingly constructed. Look at the patterns, texture and honeycomb style compartments! Isn't nature wonderful!
