We spoke about any of our worries and why we worry. We also watched a video about the science behind meditation and yoga. We then had a session of Yoga, which they loved rather a lot with all the giggling that was happening! We finished the session off with 15 minutes of guided meditation.

As part of our Early Islamic Civilisation and Islam studies we had the pleasure of spending afternoon prayers with a very welcoming George and other Muslims within our community. The children experienced how Muslims prayed to Allah; heard a reading from the Quran and where able to have a question and answer session with all that attended the afternoon prayer.
We where very privileged to be the first school in Oswestry to be invited to attend the Muslim Centre since its opening. It was a very humbling and peaceful experience had by all and the children as well as the adults learned so much about the wonderful religion of Islam. A massive thank you to George and his friends at Oswestry Muslim Centre. As a whole class we came up with who we respect in our lives. Parents/Grand parents/Teachers/Teaching assistants/Friends/Police/Nurses were just a few suggestions. We discussed about building a mutual respect between two people to having respect for ourselves. We agreed that respecting ourselves is really important for our mental health and would also help us to respect each other.
We also spoke about how we show respect to others; face to face - either friends/peers or adults; and online. They suggested that online, they can share positive comments and feedback and not sharing information about each other. They can show respect to their friends by listening to them and understanding how they are feeling; acknowledge their opinion even if it is different to theirs. They said that adults show respect by listening to them and understanding their opinions and taking time to talk with them to help with things that are affecting them. We discussed friendships and how they make us feel and how to make them. the children created their own recipe to make a good friend.
The children recapped on last years PSHE - Relationships/Safety/Health. We discussed how we can stay safe when talking about challenging subjects and how best to support each other. We used our school values -Compassion/Fairness/Courage to support our class rules.
