In Literacy we all investigated what made an effective persuasive speech, looking at existing persuasive speeches and analysing their features. We then imagined what we would say IF we were running for School Council president at Morda. Every child in Shamrocks had a go at writing their own President's Manifesto and Election Speech. There was some amazing persuasive writing produced. The children then decided whether they would actually like to run for School Council president in our Morda Elections and fine tuned and typed up their speeches. We were so proud that 14 students out of 23 in Shamrocks class wanted to challenge themselves to taking on the elections and speaking in front of the whole school in Assembly. In whole school worship each child took their turn to read their speech to the whole school - each and every candidate spoke clearly and confidently (despite many last minute nerves) and we are so proud of each and every one who took part. After assembly the balloting slips were delivered to each class with a list of each of the girls and boys names who ran for School Council President. Every child in the school voted for one girl and one boy to be School Council President. Mrs Chapman collected in the votes and the girl and boy with the highest number of votes were elected as School Council president 2023, the boy and girl with the second most votes became Vice Presidents of the School Council. In Friday's assembly the results were revealed and a huge congratulations goes to... Adele and Fletcher - School Council Presidents Alexa and AJ - Vice Presidents Well done to ALL of Shamrocks and each and every candidate who all put their hearts into writing speeches and designing Vote For Me posters to display around the school. There was some amazing campaigning taking place all week.
